R de Rieussec 2023: The Elegance of a Dry White from Sauternes

Crafted from the finest terroirs of Château Rieussec, this dry white wine reveals the nobility of the gravelly sandy-clay and limestone soils of the Sauternes appellation, on the left bank of the Garonne.

The harmonious blend of 56% Sauvignon Blanc and 44% Sémillon benefits from meticulous vinification: partial fermentation in oak barrels for Sémillon, stainless steel vinification to preserve Sauvignon's freshness, followed by six months of aging on lees.

Nose: Remarkably pure aromatic bouquet, combining fresh citrus notes, delicate flowers, and white-fleshed fruits, enhanced by subtle woody nuances.

Color: Bright and clear with luminous highlights.

Palate: Fresh and indulgent attack, silky texture revealing remarkable balance between aromatic vibrancy and roundness. The elegant finish extends with beautiful saline minerality.

Hand-harvested in small crates, the grapes are chilled to limit oxidation before gentle pressing to preserve aromatic freshness. Following cold settling, part of the Sémillon must is fermented in new and one-year-old oak barrels, while the Sauvignon must is fermented mainly in stainless steel tanks, as well as in one-year-old barrels. The barrel-fermented wine is then aged on its lees for six months with regular bâtonnage. Once ageing is complete, the wines matured in stainless steel (50%) and in barrels (50%) are blended together.
