R de Rieussec 2025: The Elegance of a Dry White from Sauternes

Crafted on the prestigious terroir of Château Rieussec, this dry white wine reveals all the finesse of a sunny and demanding vintage. A blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Sémillon, this wine originates from carefully selected parcels on gravelly sandy-clay and limestone soils in the Sauternes appellation.

The winemaking combines tradition and modernity: part of the Sémillon matures in oak barrels with lees stirring, while the Sauvignon Blanc develops primarily in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, preserving its aromatic freshness.

Nose: Intense and precise aromas of white-fleshed fruits and citrus, enhanced by subtle minerality.

Color: Beautiful luminous density characteristic of the vintage.

Palate: Elegant structure carried by fine, persistent acidity. The long, saline finish expresses with purity the identity of Rieussec's terroir.

For R de Rieussec 2025, the grapes are hand-harvested in small crates from carefully selected plots. The Sauvignon Blanc is picked early to preserve its thiol aromas, while the Sémillon is harvested at a later stage of ripeness to bring structure and richness. After chilling to limit oxidation, the grapes undergo gentle pressing and cold settling. The Sémillon is mainly fermented in new and one-year-old oak barrels, while the Sauvignon is vinified mostly in stainless steel tanks at low temperature. The wine is aged on its lees for six months, with regular bâtonnage for the barrel-aged lots. The final blend is composed of 50% stainless steel and 50% barrel-aged wine.

This wine pairs beautifully with rich, meaty fish such as salmon and halibut. It also shines alongside Asian cuisine, spicy fried chicken, sautéed vegetables, arugula and parmesan salad, or pasta with basil pesto.
