Carmes de Rieussec 2016: The Quintessence of the Sauternes Terroir
The second wine of Château Rieussec, Carmes de Rieussec 2016 embodies the excellence of an exceptional terroir located at the junction of Fargues and Sauternes. Benefiting from the ideal climatic conditions provided by the Ciron River, this sweet wine reveals all the magic of noble rot that developed late in the 2016 vintage.
Crafted from a blend dominated by Sémillon (97%), complemented by Muscadelle (2%) and Sauvignon Blanc (1%), this wine benefits from meticulous parcel-by-parcel vinification. The 12-month barrel aging, preceded by regular bâtonnage on lees, bestows structure and complexity.
Nose: Intense aromatic expression unveiling a bouquet of exotic fruits where mango and pineapple mingle, enriched by delicately integrated woody notes.
Color: Luminous pale yellow with green highlights, testament to the vintage's freshness.
Palate: The attack reveals discretion and refinement, carried by characteristic vivacity. The palate blossoms with amplitude before extending into a voluptuous finish with hints of caramel and lightly toasted notes. Serve between 8° and 10°C.
