Château Rieussec 2002: The Airy Elegance of an Exceptional Sauternes
Produced on the prestigious Sauternes terroir, at the confluence of Fargues and Sauternes communes, this great sweet wine comes from a 93-hectare vineyard with gravelly sandy-clay soils. The influence of the Ciron river promotes optimal development of botrytis cinerea, giving this vintage its unique character.
Vinified with meticulous care, this Sauternes was aged 26 months in new oak barrels from Tonnellerie des Domaines.
Blend: 85% Sémillon, 8% Sauvignon, 7% Muscadelle
Color: Deep yellow with persistent greenish highlights.
Nose: Fresh and delicate aromatic expression, marked by citrus notes dominated by grapefruit, with restrained botrytis.
Palate: An airy wine of remarkable finesse, combining crystalline freshness and refined elegance. The balance between raisined grapes from early pickings and late botrytis creates a subtle and distinguished harmony.
